"stop"是初中英語中一個常見的單詞，在考試中也常出現(xiàn)，但其用法很多同學卻總是弄不清楚 。今天，夢想君在這里再次對這個單詞進行一個簡單的總結，希望同學們更全面地掌握！
一、stop作名詞，表示“停止、中止”、“停車站” 。
The bus came to a sudden stop.公交車突然停了下來 。
We put a stop to their fight just now.剛才我們中止了他們的爭論 。
The bus stop is over there.公交車站有那兒 。
二、stop作及物動詞，可以接名詞，代詞、動名詞或動詞不定式
1. stop something
They stoppped a car and asked how to get to the hospital.他們攔下了一輛汽車，問去醫(yī)院怎么走 。
We have stopped our actions because of the accident.

2. Stop doing sth 停止做某事（強調停止正在做的事）

We stopped playing football when we saw you on the playground.當我們看到你們在操場上時就停止了踢球 。
The baby stopped crying as soon as he heard his mother’s voice.不孩子一聽到他媽媽的聲音就不哭了 。
3.stop ...from ( doing) sth 阻止……做……
The police stopped the car from running ahead because its overspeed.
由于超速 ， 警察阻止這輛汽車繼續(xù)行駛 。
People plant lots of trees to stop the wind from blowing away the earth.人們種了很多樹阻止風把泥土吹走 。
三、stop作不及物動詞
Stop!停下來！
She is too tired ,she has to stop to have a rest .
她太累了，必須停下來休息 。
They stopped to smoke a cigarette. 他們停下來,抽了根煙 。
注意：stop to do 強調停下（某事）去做另一件事，而Stop doing sth強調停止正在做的事 。兩者容易混淆，要注意區(qū)分 。
