The doctor says there are no better alternatives to the current treatment.醫生說 ， 沒有比當前的治療方法更好的選擇了 。
Can wind power provide a cheaper and greener alternative to oil?風能可以替代石油成為更經濟環保的能源嗎？
Feifei注意 ， alternative 在表示“替代什么 ， 成為什么”的意思時 ， 后面應該跟介詞“to” 。
最后 ， 我來講講 choice 和 option 這兩個使用頻率很高的近義詞 。剛才在講 selection 的時候提到 ， choice 有“可供選擇的事物”這層含義 ， 但 choice 還有另一個更為常用的意思 ， 那就是“選擇、決定” ， 用于強調“做出某種選擇的行為或可能性” 。先來聽幾個包含 choice 的例句 。
Examples
Don’t ask me. It’s your choice.
別問我怎么做 ， 這是你自己的決定 。
The robbers have turned themselves in – they’ve made the right choice.這些強盜去自首了 ， 他們做出了正確的決定 。
Art history wasn’t really my first choice. I wanted to study literature.藝術史其實并不是我的首選 ， 我原本想學的科目是文學 。
Feifei在剛才聽到的三個句子中 ， 單詞 choice 分別指“說話對象有可能做出的決定”、“強盜去自首這一決定”以及“我專攻某一門科目的決定” 。
