Ready 最常用的是做形容詞 ， 少數(shù)情況下也做動詞、副詞和名詞 。
1、形容詞：( 比較級和最高級 ， readier, readiest)
prepared, 準備好了的；(不用在名詞前面 ， 僅做表語) We cant eat now – dinner is not ready. I will be ready in five minutes. Are you ready to go to school?
willing, 甘愿的 ， 樂意的；(不用在名詞前面 ， 僅做表語) She is always ready to help. 她一直都很樂意幫忙 。They werent ready to lend me the money. 他們不愿意借給我那筆錢 。
quick or alert, 迅速的 ， 敏捷的；靈巧的 。She has got a ready mind. 她心靈敏捷 。（修飾名詞） She has got a ready wit.她足智多謀 。She has got a ready tongue. 她伶牙俐齒 。He has a ready pen.他文筆敏捷 。
easily available, 即時可得的；現(xiàn)成的；隨手可得的 ， Mother had a ready answer to every question.母親對每個問題都有現(xiàn)成的答案 。Keep some ready cash at home for an emergency. 家中放些現(xiàn)金 ， 以備緊急之需 。get ready: 準備好；Get ready, we have to leave now.
2、做動詞 verb ：readies, readying, readied to prepare sb. /yourself/sth./ for sth. 為…做準備；準備好做…. Western companies were readying themselves for the challenge from Eastern markets. 西方的公司正在為迎接來自東方市場的調(diào)整做準備 。
3、做副詞。用于過去分詞前面 ， 經(jīng)常構(gòu)成符合詞 。已經(jīng)完成的；已經(jīng)做完的 ready-cooked meals ；現(xiàn)成的飯菜 。The concrete was ready mixed.混凝土是攪拌好的 。
